Paid subscriptions to apps and services can cost you a pretty penny over time. Netflix alone will cost you 9,500 rubles per year. It’s worth periodically checking which apps you still use and which ones you can safely give up. In this article, I’ll tell you how to do this on an Android phone.
It is best to choose those services that you really do not use at the moment. By doing this, you will still be able to use the application, but you will not have access to the premium account functionality. If necessary, you can always return the subscription if you need some functions in the future.
How to cancel a subscription in Google Market?
It is important to understand that deleting the app from your phone does not automatically cancel your subscriptions, and you will still be charged a subscription fee even if you do not use it. To prevent this from happening, follow these simple steps:
- Launch Play Market,
- Click on your avatar in the upper right corner of the screen,
- Select the item "Payments and subscriptions",
- Select the item "Subscriptions",
- A list of applications for which you are subscribed to paid plans will appear.
Select the one you want to unsubscribe from and click the "Cancel subscription" After that, Google Market will ask: do you want "Pause Subscription» or "No" If you want to completely cancel your subscription, click the "No", indicate the reason why you are doing this and click the "Continue".
If you select the option "Pause", then you can choose the desired period: from 1 to 3 months, after which the money will start to be written off again.
On the same page you can see the tariff plan, for example, in my case it was 69 rubles per month for Truecaller Caller ID.
Important notice! If you can't find your subscription for an app, it's likely that it's been removed from the Google Play Store (this happens quite often). If this happens, you won't be charged any subscription fees, but you won't be able to get back any payments you've already made.
Cancelling your subscription after you have already made a payment will not result in you losing access to premium features. You can continue to use the app until the end of the paid period. For example, if you paid for an annual subscription in July 2021, you will have access to premium features until July 2022. If you do not plan to renew your subscription for the next year, now is the time to cancel it.
How to cancel Yandex Plus?
Unfortunately, the method described above does not always work. For example, after you connect Yandex Plus, the service will not be displayed in the Google Market list. In such cases, you need to go to the settings of the service through which the subscription was issued. In the case of Yandex Plus, this may be Yandex Go.
Click on the number of points, which is located in the upper right corner of Yandex Go - a page will open that tells how points are accumulated and how they can be spent. Scroll to the very bottom of the page and click on the button "You are in Plus". The page should open as indicated in step 2 - click on the button that contains the word "Manage". After that, click the "Cancel subscription" button.
But that's not enough - you need to confirm your choice several times. On the new page, confirm your choice again and then again. Only then will the "quest" end. Congratulations!
How to find all subscriptions associated with your Google account?
Subscription services typically have a free trial period. However, most of them will ask for your bank card information before you start using them or ask you to subscribe through Google Play so that your bank card is automatically charged after the trial period.
Unlike Netflix, which automatically cancels your subscription if you don't watch movies on it for a certain period of time, most services will automatically charge you after your trial period ends. And that can be a serious problem.
But there's good news: It's super easy to find all the subscriptions associated with your Google Pay account. Here's how.
- Open "Settings" on your phone and select "Google",
- Under the avatar and nickname there will be a button "Manage your Google account" - click on it,
- In the top menu, find the item "Payments and subscriptions",
- Scroll down the page a little and select the item "Subscription management".
After that, you will see a list of services that you have subscribed to using your Google account. Now you can view the list and unsubscribe from those services that you no longer need.
Refund
To cancel a subscription and get a refund, the user is given a 30-minute grace period during which they can cancel a purchase made in the Google Play Store.
After that, the developer will automatically send you a notification by email, which will contain information about your request for a refund and the current status of the operation. This operation can only be performed once. If you re-subscribe to the same application a second time, funds will be debited from your card, and the purchase will be considered completed and it will not be possible to return money for it.
