The concept of karaoke was launched in the 1970s, back then it was just a huge piece of equipment. But gradually it became common in bars and pubs as a source of entertainment. And today, all you need is a laptop or smartphone to run the app.
There are countless karaoke apps for smartphones. Although their main function is the same, each has its own special feature. We have tested most of them and selected the best ones. In this article, you will find a description of each app, as well as a download link from Google Play Store and AppStore.
StarMaker
StarMaker is a popular app with 50 million users that lets you sing karaoke for free! It doesn't matter what kind of music you like: pop or hip-hop - just find your favorite track from the million available, sing along with a high-quality backing track and a running line, edit the recording using a set of sound effects and video filters and share the cover with friends on social networks. You can also sing a duet or start a live broadcast. And the "Hook" function will allow you to perform only the most "percussive" parts of your favorite songs.
After registration, you get free tokens that you can spend on singing your favorite song. If you get a good score for your performance (hit the notes), you'll get a couple more tokens that you can spend on choosing another track. Use pitch correction to sound like a professional singer.
But be careful, if you want to save the video of your performance, a message will appear informing you that when you save the clip, it will be uploaded to the service's YouTube channel.
Smule
Smule is a community of over 50 million users. Its library of over 10 million songs across genres is one of the largest among karaoke apps. You can categorize your music to make it easier to find the song you need.
You can sing on your own or join someone else's recording, or you can organize a duet or record a whole ensemble that other participants can join in. The result is a video in which each user sings their part of the track. You don't have to know the whole song by heart — Smule shows the lyrics and has a special tracker to keep you in the right tone. After recording, it packages the track into an edited video with filters and other effects.
Points are awarded for hitting the right notes, which are indicated by blue stripes running across the screen. If you suddenly sing out of tune, automatic pitch correction (autotune) will smooth out all the shortcomings.
Yokee Karaoke
A simple yet feature-rich karaoke app. It has over 100 million users. Sure, the library isn't as big as Smule, but for those who just want to have fun without all the bells and whistles, it's perfect.
There is a choice of various genres and languages (Russian is also available). Immediately after recording, you can polish your voice with various sound effects. Yokee also allows you to record a selfie video of your performance and share it on social networks.
Voloco
Voloco is not a karaoke app (it doesn't have lyrics), but it can help you with that. It's designed for real-time voice processing and combines autotune, harmonizer, and vocoder. It will help you adjust your singing to the genre and key of the song.
It is possible to download songs from a smartphone, as well as record selfie videos. And dozens of vocal effects will help bring your voice to perfection. And also with the help of a mixer and equalizer, you can edit the recordings made.
If you want to cut out an unnecessary part of the track, there is such a function, as well as the ability to share audio or video recordings of your performances with other users or publish them on social networks. Voloco also allows you to export your mix and continue working on it in another application.
Download on Android.
Backtrackit
Backtrackit – is a rather unusual application. The idea is that you don’t need to sing along to the accompaniment, but to play along. There are thousands of phonograms here, in a variety of genres from rock, blues and jazz to metal, pop music and classical music. If you wish, you can create your own drum parts in the style of famous drummers. It is possible to split the soundtrack into vocals, drums, bass and karaoke!
The display will show the chord progression. Of course, singing is also not prohibited - the application will show how accurately you took the note - so you can improve both your vocals and playing the instrument. You can adjust the pitch, change the tempo, reduce the volume of the leading instrument, adjust the equalizer for yourself and much more.
SingSnap
SingSnap positions itself as the "largest online karaoke community." In it, you can both upload your videos and rate the videos of other users. You can even sing a duet with someone to a backing track. The application converts music files from your smartphone to karaoke on the fly, removing the vocals from them.
While SingSnap does have free songs, most of the collection is available through a paid subscription, which costs $12 per month. The paid version allows users to record unlimited videos, use keyboard instruments, and adjust the pitch.
Among the effects that can be used to polish the sound are choir, studio, superposition of a second voice and much more. You can separately adjust the volume of music and vocals, create an artificial echo and set the delay of the soundtrack to get the desired result. The videos you like can be downloaded to your computer or uploaded to YouTube.
Singa
Singa is an application for Android and iOS mobile platforms. With it, you will always have a karaoke soundtrack at hand.
Singa is sure to have what you need. The collection contains over 80,000 songs of different genres and years of release. There are even ready-made playlists "for every mood". So if you don't know what you want, just choose the right mood, and you'll surely discover something new.
The service is free for a certain number of songs. Then the app will offer you either a 30-day trial or an immediate monthly subscription.
I am a BAND
I am a BAND allows you to sing exactly the way you want. Here you can remove the voice, piano, drums, bass or guitar from any track and play or sing yourself. For example, if you want to practice playing the guitar, just remove the guitar part from the song and play it yourself. The same with drums, bass, piano and vocals. The phone screen does not turn off and always remains on when playing music.
You can select music files from your device and play your favorite songs. The app also allows you to change the tempo and tone of songs. Most audio formats are supported, and edited tracks are exported as MP3 files.
Karaoke Version
On the website Karaoke Version There are not only original compositions, but also an excellent selection of their own cover versions. Moreover, they are very close to the original, especially in terms of instruments.
But the most amazing thing is that you can turn off individual instruments! For example, you can choose only the guitar or drums. This means that you can not only sing, but also "fill in" the missing instrument. For example, accompany yourself on the guitar.
Many tracks cost a couple of dollars on Karaoke Version, but there are plenty of free tracks. More than 150 backing tracks are available for download, a significant portion of which are traditional and retro songs. Some tracks with vocals are presented in several versions in different languages.
Sing2Music
Service Sing2Music is aimed at "serious musicians" who want to record professional cover versions of songs. Sing2Music also produces its own backing tracks, often replacing electronics with acoustic instruments or changing the key of the original composition.
Of course, audio recordings can be used for karaoke, even if they are different from the original tracks. Just search for the desired track by title or artist, and then you can stream it using various platforms, including Spotify or Apple Music.
Sing King
Sing King – a very popular YouTube channel, where new music hits in karaoke versions are constantly appearing.
The channel features not just videos with instrumental versions of songs by Ed Sheeran, Ariana Grande, John Legend and other artists, but backing tracks with lyrics. So you won't have to remember the words. But there are no Russian songs here.
If you want to download a video to sing along to even when you don't have an internet connection, you'll have to buy a YouTube Premium subscription to watch the video offline.
