If you are part of the Rubik's Cube community or want to join it, you will find apps on your phone useful. They will help you improve your methods of solving the puzzle or reduce the time it takes to do so. This article presents the best interactive Rubik's cubes that you can download for iOS or Android. So, let's get started.
The article has apps for different purposes. My favorite is Twisty Timer, but if you haven't encountered a Rubik's cube before, try Cube Algorithms. And for those who just like the process of assembling, Cube X will do. Interactive games are not as interesting as real ones, but if you want something as close to reality as possible, choose Flat Cube.
ASolver
ASolver will show you the steps to solve the puzzle. You just need to take a picture of 6 sides of the cube with the app using the camera, and it will show you the best solution. The maximum number of steps for a 3x3 cube is only 22.
Additionally, you have the option to solve different cube variations – Pyramid, Pocket Cube, Megaminx, etc. The purpose of the app is simply to show you the best way to solve the puzzle you have, so it does not demonstrate the technique or explain the steps to take.
Available for Android.
Cube X
Cube X is similar to ASolver, but it shows several solution options with different number of moves and a formula for the solution. The advantage of the application is that it provides assembly methods according to the template.
You can transform the cube into different templates and designs instead of assembling it from scratch. But there is one drawback - only 3*3 cubes are supported. If you have another option, you will have to use ASolver.
Available for Android.
Cube Algorithms
The principle of the application is based on several ways of solving Rubik's puzzle at different stages. It demonstrates different methods including 4LLL, CFOP, COLL, F2L, etc. The assembly is quite simple, but before using the application, you will need to get an idea of the listed methods.
For example, you have chosen the most famous solution method – CFOP. It will divide the whole process into three parts – F2L, OLL and PLL, which is provided by the CFOP algorithm. After that, you will see all possible scenarios at the F2L stage and will be able to activate them.
The app won't make you a puzzle pro, but it will help you along the way. YouTube videos demonstrating basic puzzle-solving techniques, along with Cube Algorithms, which allows you to put them into practice, work wonders.
Available for Android And iPhone.
Magic Cube Solver
Magic Cube Solver is the best puzzle solver for iOS. As in the previous two cases, you just need to show the puzzle, and the app will solve it in 22 steps or less.
It also provides small instructions on how to assemble it, showing you the steps you need to take to do it. However, Magic Cube Solver only supports a few cube variants: 2x2, 3x3, 4x4, and Void.
Available for iPhone.
Twisty Timer
Twisty Timer is a variation of the Pro Timer app that includes not only a timer but also other options: time of passage, best result and average score. You will find different timer options for different algorithms - for example, OLL and PLL.
In addition, you will have the ability to create categories for multiple timers if you want to use multiple methods. Twisty Timer supports different types of dice – 7x7, Pyramid, Megaminx, Clock, etc. In addition, there is a graph that will clearly show your progress in the game.
Available for Android And iPhone.
Cube Timer
Cube Timer provides the bare minimum for players – a timer, a solution time, and a shuffle option. Instead of random shuffling, the app will give you the option to shuffle the faces in a specific way. You can also see your best score and average score.
Available for Android.
