Computer games are constantly evolving and improving, and this largely concerns the number of players. In the 80s, in order to play together, you had to wait for your turn. After the 90s, brothers, sisters and friends could enjoy the process at the same time, and in modern games the number of participants can be unlimited.
Sometimes it can be difficult to get friends together to play together, but luckily there are plenty of games that allow you to enjoy the process from a distance. Available for PS4, Xbox One or PC, you can quickly find something to your taste. We have compiled a list of games that you can play with friends online, on the same computer or console.
Fortnite
Chances are you've heard of Fortnite and all that comes with it, and if you have younger siblings, they're probably already playing it. It's a fun, free game where you can have a blast collecting weapons, building forts, and wiping out your competition until you're the only man or woman left standing.
Of course, there is also a story mode where you can fight zombies with your friends. In addition, the game is constantly updated and supplemented with new chapters. Unfortunately, you cannot play on a local network, so you will have to play online.
Assassin's Creed: Unity
The launch was slightly marred by technical issues, but Assassin's Creed: Unity has risen from the ashes to become the most ambitious and interesting event on the market. Up to four players can team up, parkour through the streets of Paris in the late 1700s, and complete missions ranging from protecting Napoleon to eliminating Austrian spies. It's a great treat for fans of stealth and action, and a fantastic journey through the French capital.
The Division 2
If first-person shooters aren't your thing, The Division 2 is the game for you. It's a third-person shooter that will keep you hooked for hours, maybe even days. You'll need to collect weapons and gear to create optimal loadouts and defeat your opponents. You can play with friends, up to four players in story mode.
After that, the bravest of the company can go to the Dark Zone (PVP mode). There is an opportunity to team up with strangers, but keep in mind that they may turn out to be scammers, kill you and steal the loot.
Whatever items you get from other players, you'll have to defend them with weapons in hand until a helicopter arrives to pick them up. Unfortunately, there's a beacon in the Dark Zone that warns others of your attempt to get something, so good luck to you.
Portal 2
If you like finding your way out of endless labyrinths, Portal 2 is for you. You have two portals to get somewhere, and then several more that take you somewhere else. The co-op mode increases the interest and allows two players to use four portals at once to get to the most difficult locations and solve puzzles that require an understanding of basic physics and dynamics, as well as coordinated work.
Apex Legends
Apex Legends features 60 players split into teams of three who fight to the death on one large map. With artifacts to loot, enemies to fight, and ever-shrinking boundaries, it does a great job of fulfilling the battle royale genre's responsibilities. And each character's unique skills and ability to revive teammates make Apex Legends more interesting than other titles in the genre (like Fortnite).
Dying Light
A team of up to four players explores the fictional city of Harran, killing the zombies that live there. Unlike other representatives of the genre, here you don’t need to move on the ground next to the monsters – it’s better to jump over them, run on the roofs and use everything that is around. Swords, hooks and firearms are also present, so you will enjoy the game even if your friends want a nice zombie kill instead of a crazy run over their heads.
Stardew Valley
The game doesn't add anything new to the classic Harvest Moon formula, other than the extra players, but that little thing makes all the difference. The fun of farming, building relationships with your neighbors, and engaging in old-fashioned agrarian capitalism is doubled, tripled, even quadrupled. This is entirely due to the fact that you're playing together, sharing each other's risks and profits. As we all know, there's nothing like farming to build friendships.
Sea of Thieves
The game is by no means perfect. The story is both convoluted and superficial, especially considering that it is about the sea. The main advantage is the pirate gameplay. It is very interesting to assemble a team of three or four people and steer the ship together: one holds the helm, the second manages the sails, the third fires the cannons, and the fourth repairs the ship if you suddenly encounter rivals. You will need well-coordinated teamwork, so several dozen hours of fun are guaranteed.
Monster Hunter: World
The game is quite simple: hunters must kill monsters, collect armor and weapons, and then hunt even more dangerous creatures. This approach allows you to enjoy the beautifully developed design, as well as experience the thrill of a team battle with invincible bosses. Incredibly, the process of constantly pumping characters in the game is much more interesting than you can imagine.
Syndicate
The sci-fi cyberpunk genre has the fewest co-op games, which is a serious omission. Fortunately, 2012's Syndicate fills that void, offering an incredible four-player adventure. It's a first-person shooter with fun, exciting gunplay and sci-fi abilities reminiscent of some modern AAA games.
Dead Space 3
All players have to do in Dead Space 3 is wander around the snow, craft weapons, and shoot creepy monsters called Necromorphs. It’s simple, yet fun. The co-op mode allows players to work together as they make their way through an ice-covered planet filled with all sorts of horrors. In areas where players are separated, they will have to experience different adventures at the same time. If you’re looking for a co-op third-person shooter, check out Dead Space 3.
Rocket League
Rocket League is a game for older kids and adults who enjoy racing and fighting. It came out a few years ago, but has not lost its popularity, and is a combination of football, American and European, with driving. A strange but very exciting mix. You will have to drive around fields and arenas in a vehicle, hold the ball and score goals. You can play in a team or against each other.
Overcooked 2
Even if you haven't had a chance to enjoy the first part of the game, we recommend playing Overcooked 2. Both versions allow you to play on a local network, on PC or different consoles - PS4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One.
What's so great about Overcooked 2? It's a fun cooking simulator for four people where you need to create a team and save the world from being taken over by hungry monsters. You'll have to cook food and complete orders as quickly as possible to feed the creatures. You lose when the time runs out - if you don't complete the required number of orders, you'll get one or two stars out of a possible three.
World War Z
The game takes the quickest and smartest zombie squads from the Brad Pitt film and places them in locations based on the original book, allowing players to view different regions and cultures through the lens of a devastating zombie apocalypse. The story is simple, but World War Z has enough difficulty levels, characters, and items to keep four players interested in hunting the undead.
Unravel 2
A two-player game for fans of side-scrollers. Here you become two little creatures made of yarn who travel around the world. Their bodies can stretch and unwind, which is actively used in the plot.
You will have to climb, swing and perform real acrobatics to overcome obstacles and complete tasks. Unravel 2 is the perfect entertainment for friends who love to solve puzzles.
A Way Out
For gamers who enjoy action-packed entertainment and more mature content, A Way Out was created. It allows you to play on a local network or online, and the plot is based on the story of two guys who escaped from prison. What is unique here is that in order to overcome obstacles, players need to work together - for example, walking back to back to swim through a chute. In addition, there will be many moments in the process when your life will depend on the actions of your partner.
Never Alone
The title translates as “Never Alone” – a perfect slogan for those who love cooperative games. It should be noted that it has a single-player mode, but it is better to find a teammate. The plot tells the story of a young girl who is trying to stop the blizzards that have engulfed her village, and her favorite fox helps her in this difficult task. Accordingly, one player will be a girl, and the second will be a fox. If you want to play together on PC, you will need two gamepads.
Team Sonic Racing
Racing will always be a favorite genre among gamers. If you crave speed and fighting, what better way to satisfy your desires than playing Sonic? Here you don’t need to run or jump on enemies – together with your friends you will fight in races like Mario Kart.
You will have access not only to standard functions, but also to funny "tricks" like shooting rockets. You can play Team Sonic Racing as a team (up to four people) or fight against each other.
Absolver
Absolver is an unusual martial arts experience that teaches you how to make friends through fistfights. You can team up with one or two other players to conquer the small game world and bonus dungeons – and it will go faster thanks to teamwork.
If you don't have any friends to play with, try making friends with other players using simple gestures. Absolver offers not only combat but also communication, making it the best adventure fighting game.
Styx: Shards of Darkness
So, you and your friends find yourself in the shoes of two mischievous goblins who must maneuver in harsh realities, steal artifacts and save their lives. The game uses elements typical of the stealth genre: hiding enemy corpses, staying in the shadows, hanging from the edge of an insecure abyss to avoid detection. However, such a classic approach to the matter can be called more of a plus than a minus - learning the process does not cause difficulties, and the process itself allows you to enjoy old-school simplicity and teamwork.
