Nobody likes to receive phone calls from unknown numbers and be interrupted in the middle of important work or late at night. Unfortunately, with the rise of online shopping, it is almost impossible to keep your number private. If you have entered it on a website when registering for training or applying for a loan, it will be transferred from one company to another.
If you are tired of calls that constantly try to sell you something or, even worse, threaten you, then special applications will help you, which compare the caller's number with their database and show all the information available on it. This will give you a better idea of whether it is worth answering the call or not.
Truecaller
Truecaller is the most popular app that lets you find out who is calling from an unknown number. It can also block unwanted calls, completely protecting you from unnecessary calls. If the blocked subscriber tries to call you, he will hear a busy signal. You can also block calls with a hidden number and who is not in your contact list. Identification of unknown senders in messengers is available. There is a backup of call history, contacts and messages to Google Drive.
TrueCaller also allows you to search manually. Just enter a number and you will get the name attached to it, as well as some other information, such as the name of the mobile operator or where it is from. This is possible thanks to a huge database that contains information on billions of calls. For example, in India alone, the app is used by 150 million people.
After installation, you will need to go through a quick registration through authorization using a Google or Microsoft account. If you enable the "advanced search" option, Truecaller will look at your contact list and also add it to its database. In return, you will be able to find out how you are listed in the phone book of other users.
The latest update adds the ability to schedule SMS messages. Simply press and hold the send button to switch to the SMS Schedule mode and specify the desired date and time to send the message. The updated Truecaller 12 makes call recording free for everyone.
The app was originally developed for BlackBerry phones in 2009 by Swedish company True Software Scandinavia AB, founded by Alan Mamedi and Nami Zarringhalam. From there, it quickly expanded to other platforms, including iOS and Android. And now, the company has been collecting phone number data for 10 years.

Drupe
The main functionality of Drupe is the identification of an unknown subscriber, recording telephone conversations, support for different design styles and blocking of unwanted calls. With Drupe, you can dial a number, send a text message or contact anyone from your contact list using your favorite messenger with just one swipe of your finger.
Drupe's developers focused on the ability to communicate using gestures. You'll always have a transparent icon at hand for quick access to contacts. WhatsApp, Google Allo, SMS, and more are supported, but unless you upgrade to the $4 premium version, ads will appear in your contact list.
The latest version has moved the call hold button to a more convenient location to prevent accidental pressing with the cheek.

Show Caller
Show Caller is a small application that takes up only 4 MB, but is nevertheless able to identify most unknown numbers and show detailed information about the subscriber, his name, photo, even if he is not in your contact list. Comes with support for T9 technology, which significantly speeds up the search in the address book.
At the moment, the application has a base of about 20 million users. The Show Caller interface is very similar to Truecaller, however, unlike the latter, it takes up much less space. Identification of subscribers occurs quite quickly. The only disadvantage is the presence of advertising.

CallApp
CallApp allows you to identify unknown callers, block spam calls, record incoming and outgoing calls. However, the main function remains the identification of unknown numbers, so it is not surprising that spam blocking does not work very well.
It is worth noting another disadvantage of CallApp - high energy consumption: when using it, the smartphone battery is drained faster than when working with Truecaller in the same conditions. Nevertheless, the application deserves a place on this list, as it copes well with its main task.
In addition to the standard features, there is an "Incognito" mode with which you can hide the number of a certain subscriber, and it will not be displayed not only during an incoming call, but also in the call log. If suddenly you have a person with whom you want to talk, but so that no one finds out about it by taking your phone - this is what you need.
The update from August 25, 2020 introduced a call analytics function and improved call recording quality. To get the best quality, test the recording using the built-in functionality. A new function “Who didn’t answer me” has appeared — the subscribers you called but didn’t answer will be at the top of the list so you don’t forget about them. Among other things, you can now create and share your own video ringtones.
