Running apps have many useful features, such as programmed routes, audio coaching, the ability to communicate with other runners, organize competitions, and personal training plans. In addition, they provide convenient graphs and charts to track your progress.
MapMyRun
MapMyRun has all sorts of activities available, from running to rock climbing. There is a real-time workout where your friends can see your run, but it is only available in the paid version.
The function of recording the route taken, with the ability to view the distance, time and other parameters is available for free.
There is an audio trainer that will voice the distance traveled, total time, pace, speed and calories. The voice for the voiceover is the built-in speech synthesizer from Google, so there is support for the Russian language.
You can create your own training plan or choose from recommended ones based on your preferences and previous runs, but this is only available on a paid plan, which costs 1,700 rubles per year or 339 rubles per month.
For statistics lovers, there is the option to connect additional devices, such as “smart shoes” from Under Armour, watches from Garmin, Suunto and others, as well as a heart rate monitor.
Of the social features, there are only individual user profiles and their runs. There are no interest or city groups.
Strava
This is the most popular running app and you probably know about it, but it is currently not available for installation in Russia from Google Play. But you can install it via APK file.
When starting a workout, you can choose a sport. In addition to running, there is football, skiing, skating, surfing, hiking and much more. After completing the workout, a race map, distance, average pace, time on the move, elevation gain and maximum altitude will be shown. Pace analysis is only available in the paid version.
There is a "beacon" function to share your location during workouts with three close people (they do not need to install the app). There is also a similar Live function, with which all your subscribers will be able to monitor your performance right during the workout. But this function is only available in the paid version.
There are groups. You can create group tasks, subscribe or join available tasks, which are mostly created by the application itself. There is also a section called "Clubs". If you go to it, you will immediately be shown available clubs nearby. And among the club members, you can see the rating by the amount of distance covered. It will be difficult to compete with the top 10. In my case, for a club of 300 cyclists, the distance for the week for the first place was 472 km.
A 30-day trial subscription is available. A paid subscription costs 4,000 rubles per year.
adidas running
The app offers various sports, such as running, basketball, skiing, cycling and others. You can also choose a training goal: distance, time or calories. Integration with GPS watches Garmin, Polar, Suunto and others is supported, as well as the ability to connect a heart rate monitor and set heart rate zones.
The free version of the app has a voice coach in English that will inform you about your workout metrics, such as distance, speed, pace, and more. Unfortunately, only English is available.
The app has a community, challenges, and virtual competitions within it. You can also find people nearby to follow and track their routes, and create your own groups. The app also has a Live Run feature that allows your followers to see your location and metrics until you finish your workout.
Zeopoxa Running
In Zeopoxa Run, you can choose either a basic workout or set a workout goal in the form of distance, duration or speed. During the run, you can track all these indicators. To avoid taking out your phone every time, you can activate the audio coach. It will announce the distance, speed, pace, time and calories. After completing the workout, you will have access to more detailed statistics, including graphs.
There is a section with records, where the longest distance and the longest duration are displayed. Another section, “Full,” presents general statistics, including the total duration of workouts, the number of workouts, the total distance, calories, average speed, and average pace. All the functionality is free. There are no paid subscriptions.
The history of all workouts can be exported to a CSV file. It will contain the date of all workouts, the beginning and end of the workout, distance, duration, calories, average and maximum speed, pace, altitude, etc. A total of 23 parameters - statistics lovers will like it.
Available for Android.
